Salesforce is a customer relationship management service and one of the best of its kind. It was first released in 1999. Today we also have an updated version, Salesforce Lightning, which is distinguished from the original, now called Salesforce Classic.
Why Salesforce Lightning?
Salesforce Lightning was in 2016 created to improve the Salesforce experience for users. It claims to enhance sales and productivity by increasing the leads and the conversion rate, thereby. It also aims at improved collaboration.
It has a robust interface full of new features. However, several features that are there in Salesforce Classic are missing in the latest version. For instance, it does not have a customisable dashboard. The landing page components are also absent. In Lightning, you can add individual records, contacts or leads from your reports to the campaigns. You can also not have joined reports or matrix reports. Further, it does not support account groups.
Should You Switch from Classic to Lightning?
Lightning supposed to make your work more comfortable for you. Here are some reasons why it is actually better than Classic:
User Experience: Salesforce Lightning has a drag and drop user interface that makes it easy for you to locate all the features and use them. It also has an activity timeline where users can keep track of their activity for individual leads and accounts. It has a performance chart for users to see how they are doing. Unlike Classic, it has more than one type of page. Users can design different pages like Home Pages, App Pages, and Record Pages.
Further, you do not need to code to create a Salesforce page or make changes to it. It does not require Visualforce. Lightning's ability to function without coding makes the deployment process much easier and quicker.
Security: It comes with increased security features such as the LockerService. LockerService ensured that the various Lightning components are safe from viral inputs by isolating them. Another security feature is that when users want to raise their assurance level, they have to log out and log in again with a higher level authentication.
Einstein Analytics: Einstein Analytics is exclusive to Salesforce Lightning. It improves the entire data analytics process with its database and automatic hourly updates. It also uses an advanced formula to analyze data. It has a widget editing feature on the dashboard. The dashboard can be exported as pictures.
Lightning Report Builder Tool: This tool creates improved report charts for users. It applies interactive filters and uses row-level formulae to do so. It is another feature exclusive to the Lightning experience.
Opportunity Kanban: Opportunity Kanban is a visualization tool in Salesforce Lightning. It helps users to review deals at each stage in the pipeline. It is also easy to move deals from one stage to another using the drag and drop menu. One more feature of this tool is that it sends personalized alerts for the best deals in progress.
Should You Migrate to Salesforce Lightning?
Migrating to Salesforce Lightning can have some drawbacks and disadvantages. For instance, it does not have all the features of the original Salesforce. It also does not support JavaScript buttons, which means it is difficult for JavaScript developers to use it. Further, switching from one version of Salesforce to another while your company is already running can affect your work progress because any new tool requires learning. You need to get used to it.
The good news is, however, Salesforce has the Lightning Experience Migration Assistant to help you. Here you can learn about the differences in the two versions of Salesforce. It also has tools like Readiness Check and Preview. These tools evaluate where you are at with Salesforce Classic and tell you what you need to do before you migrate to Lightning. If you are unsure, have further questions, and need help in implementing it, a Lightning Experience Salesforce developer will assist you in every possible way.
